This is a fully remote role and will be based in North America or Europe.
We are seeking a strong candidate to fill a key commercial generalist role on the Kraken Legal Team. The incumbent will not only serve as an attorney but will also function as a strategic business partner to the organization. This role will report to a senior attorney on the team and will mainly focus on Commercial and general Corporate matters.
Your Day-to-DayServe as a business partner, not just an attorney.Prepare, draft, review and negotiate various contracts and amendments, including but not limited to, client agreements, software licensing agreements, banking agreements, partnership agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor agreements.Act as an advisor to internal stakeholders in understanding and interpreting contract terms and conditions.Work and coordinate cross-departmentally with diverse Kraken teams, including: Compliance, Marketing, Finance, Tax, Security, Strategy, Business and Corporate Development, as well as with members of Kraken's executive leadership.Manage risk and ensure business and compliance needs are accurately reflected in all agreements.Respond promptly to a wide range of legal work and coordinate closely with Legal department colleagues to ensure delivery of smart, practical and consistent advice on a variety of commercial matters.
RequirementsJ.D. and admission to one state bar, or J.D., LL.M and qualified to practice law in an EU country.Minimum 2-4 years’ experience working on commercial and corporate law matters.Experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial and licensing agreements, including technology related agreements, terms of service and privacy policies, banking agreements, partnership agreements, and general commercial contracts.Comfortable handling privacy and data protection topics in the commercial contract context. Specific experience with US privacy laws and European privacy law a plus.Able to convey complex legal principles succinctly and effectively, explaining risks where the application of the law to the underlying technology and related products is unclear.Collaborative style with the ability to work independently.Self-starter with a sense of urgency to get things done.Proven ability to handle competing priorities in a dynamic, evolving and fluid environment.Sound and practical business judgment.Ability to think outside the box and develop creative solutions.Strong IT skills (we are a remote first company).A high proficiency, both written and verbal, in the English languageStrong interest in, or basic knowledge of, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.
