Contentful seeks a sophisticated and business-savvy attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel to lead product, privacy and compliance.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

Reporting to Contentful’s Chief Legal Officer, you will be a member of the Legal leadership team and will work with the Chief Legal Officer to build and scale a world-class legal organization. You will have primary responsibility for building and leading global product, privacy and compliance at Contentful.You will stay informed of  peer company best practices and relevant global legal developments, analyzing their applicability to the company's activities and objectives and advising the business on how to promote the company’s goals while complying with applicable regulations. Your leadership and expertise will drive creative, customer-focused, practical and proactive legal guidance.

Job Competencies:

This role requires a professional with 15+ years of combined law firm or government and in-house experience. We are looking for a diverse set of candidates who:

 

  • Have developed and lead a compliance team and program for a global technology company;
  • Have spent at least the last five years of the most recent years of their career focused primarily on product or compliance, including privacy;
  • Can demonstrate a track record of success working with Product and Engineering teams and leadership;
  • Creatively solve problems and can enable the business to take calculated and informed risks;
  • Have mastered change management;
  • Are known for being incredibly strategic;
  • Can point to a track record of building strong successful compliance programs in dynamic environments, leveraging a combination of internal and external resources;
  • Embody superior leadership, management, process, and relationship-building skills; 
  • Are able to use their skills of influence across the organization to accomplish the mission; and
  • Have additional experience gained from a background in IP or litigation, or from working in a government regulatory body.

Professional Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, or Masters degree in law and qualification to practice law in Germany
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience managing a team of legal professionals required
