Overview

In a Chief of Staff Role, you are responsible for providing solutions to a wide variety of problems. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will use high level permissions and access levels to be a resource for a wide variety of initiatives, including but not limited to: removing barriers for team members, improving documentation, researching best practices, enhancing company communication, mining for historical, contextual, and sensitive data, working with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on company operations, organization, and etc. Inevitably, the CoS and CEO will share aspects of each other’s personal and professional lives, and a strong CEO <> CoS connection is necessary for success in this role. You will help ReCharge maintain the highest level of employee support and professionalism while making sure we’re well positioned for the future by solving problems of varying complexity and context. The CoS’s responsibilities are grouped into three main buckets: CEO support and prioritization, Internal operations/staff oversight, Special Projects.

What You'll Do

  • CEO support and prioritization
  • Report to the CEO and primarily be responsible for taking problems/tasks with various levels of ambiguity and creating specific plans to execute.
  • Support CEO in cultural, procedural, and product initiatives.
  • Prioritize the CEO’s calendar, email, and projects. Reduce the CEO’s calendar load by 15% per quarter. 
  • Act as a gatekeeper between the CEO and the rest of the staff, pushing back on SLT members’ projects if they aren’t fully thought through. 
  • Support each member of the Senior Leadership Team in a wide variety of initiatives by helping them flush out their initiatives before they reach the CEO.
  • Proactively create solutions and practices that lighten the load of the company’s leaders (C-level and VPs, or SLT).
  • Multi-task by juggling multiple projects at a time, and prioritize according to the needs of the business, often doing so with limited guidance.
  • Eventually, act a stunt double for CEO in both internal and external meetings.
  • Internal operations/staff oversight
  • Work on initiatives in all areas of the company, anywhere from its day-to-day ops to big-picture, long-term operational projects.
  • Prepare the CEO for Townhall presentations and act as a sounding board for ideas to communicate to the team. 
  • Essentially, the in-house speech writer and editor for the CEO
  • Assign action items on weekly SLT meetings and manage issues list.
  • Own the preparation and execution of quarterly planning meetings, board meetings, M&A meetings, etc by gathering needed content from SLT members and translating into cohesive presentation materials.
  • Provide custom onboarding experience for new SLT members. 
  • Work directly with the COO to support the OKR/goal setting process for the company, and assist in holding departments accountable.
  • Special Projects
  • Take ownership of product initiatives while working alongside the CEO. enlisting teams and product managers to execute on external deadlines.
  • Provide timelines and ETAs on projects, communicating to SLT members as needed
  • Present good initiatives to the CEO after helping other stakeholders think them through.

What You'll Bring

  • MBA or relevant experience
  • 5+ years experience as CoS or Special Projects in a fast-paced tech company
  • Technical skills - a baseline understanding of coding and programming languages, frameworks, and technology stacks in e-commerce
  • Entrepreneurial hunger for growth and getting things done
  • Tech savviness, attention to detail, and advanced skill with computers
  • Strong ability to multitask and switch contexts on a dime
  • Team-player, collaborative attitude when working with various members within a team hierarchy
  • Experience implementing programs and new systems within a fast-paced tech company
  • The ability to share our values, and to execute culture focused initiatives
  • Clear understanding of the company’s functions and how various projects enhance or hinder said functions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; collaborative work style; team player with low-ego
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through ambiguity and competing priorities
  • Strong team player who can jump in and support the team on a variety of topics and tasks
  • Enthusiasm for and broad experience with software tools and proven experience learning quickly
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analysis, process, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • A focus on results with the ability to take ownership of outcomes
  • Ability to work remotely and desire to make an impact
  • Desire to be a sponge about all areas of the business, learning skills along the way to grow
  • Desire to grow out of this role and take ownership of a new area in the organization once  the term expires
