Data Analyst, Customer Experience

Remote - US / Canada Support

The Customer Experience department is looking for an experienced Data Analyst who will report into our business operations team and will provide best in class analytics and data management practices within a quickly growing organization. In addition to exceptional technical prowess, successful candidates for this role must exhibit extraordinary attention to detail, project management skills, be able to quickly build relationships with cross company partners and be responsive in a rapidly growing environment.

This role will work closely with multiple teams across the organization as we continue to grow and scale. Candidate will serve as a key subject area expert and will be responsible for reporting on data and metrics that will help inform Sales, Finance, Marketing and product decisions. This role will also pair closely with our Data Science and Data Engineering departments to assist with ETLs and rationalizing disparate data sets.

  • Develop, maintain and steward the metrics, reports and dashboards that guide operational efficiency, inform business decisions and encourage self-service.
  • Assist in ad-hoc analysis in support of leadership, strategic initiatives, capacity models and business reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with GitHub's Data, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Product teams to optimize how we capture, analyze, and report business and product data.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Support leadership to assess metric needs and compile reporting requirements.
  • Integrate data from various disparate sources to deliver appealing visualizations that provide insight into GitHub’s business and simplify the comprehension for end-users.
  • Manage deliverables and expectations across multiple stakeholders while contributing to our data-driven culture.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5+ years of data management, analytics, KPI development and BI reporting management (Looker preferred).
  • Expertise in SQL (presto, hive, postgres, mysql, etc.).
  • Experience in a Support, Customer Success, Professional Services or Sales environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrates problem solving, decision-making, and process-improvement skills.
  • Experience solving/informing business challenges/opportunities through the development of analytical solutions across disparate data sets.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of data analysis tools (Python, R) and statistical modeling (experimental analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, etc.).
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETLs (Airflow experience is a big plus).
  • Experience with Zendesk, Salesforce, SurveyMonkey and Discourse a plus
