Field Architect - Americas

We're looking for experienced technical-minded professionals who want to work in partnership with senior leaders at our most strategic customers, focused on accelerating and growing their success with GitHub. Field Architects are recognized as senior subject matter experts throughout the industry, and use their customer experience to provide an industry lens in public presentations and writing. They support a variety of diverse internal teams, including sales professionals, product management, engineering, and marketing in efforts that ensure that GitHub, and our customers, are successful, together. 

This role has three main components:

• Product Specialist knowledge
• Industry Verticals overlay
• AMER technical overlay

Better defined as:

One way to drive that success is through the role of the Technical Specialist role. This role is responsible for growing deep technical knowledge of GitHub’s products, and relaying that to our customers. This role will work closely with the Engineering and Product Managers to understand product features, design decisions and future roadmap, as well as provide a high quality source of customer feedback, requirements, and product-market fit. This role will provide the revenue organization the technical capabilities they require to continue to meet our revenue goals of a diversifying product portfolio.

Additionally, this position will support Revenue goals as being a specialist in specific customer industries. The initial focus will be on the Financial Services and Automotive industries. The role will be responsible for coordinating best practices and organizing solutions at scale that serve our global customer base. This overlay capability will support existing account teams to be more successful and drive better customer outcomes.

Finally, as an America’s based specialist, you will provide general overlay and escalation support to our technical field team on priority accounts.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• AMER based
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
• Ability to work across time zones
• Willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic
• Team-oriented and possess strong collaboration skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; self-directed and resourceful
• Passionate commitment to quality and success
• Executive level communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to mentor others. 
• 4+ years of customer facing experience in technical sales, architecture/solutions engineering, technical consulting, system integration, or project management
• Understanding of the software purchase process and the customer evaluation and buying journey.
• Strong relationship building and negotiation skills. 
• 2+ years of experience working with product management and marketing teams
• Ability to quickly solve technical and business-related challenges
• Able to relate technical concepts to customers of all technical backgrounds
• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and related tools
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) architecture, tools and workflows
• Knowledge related to application security processes, static analysis testing, and security principles (DevSecOps)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience influencing decision makers
• Experience working in or with large software development teams
• Experience with Automotive, Financial Services, and Regulated Industries
• Knowledge of Salesforce.com workflows
• Knowledge of Git, experience using GitHub and it’s features
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• Passionate about software, technology and business
• 3+ years  Software development, Engineering, Software Architecture, and/or Technical Support experience
