As a Solution Engineering Manager, you are responsible for building and running a team of regionally distributed Solution Engineers throughout EMEA. You will grow the size and abilities of the team already in place and work in close collaboration with regional and global sales and partnership teams to align on go-to-market strategy, role focus and locations in order to support our continued growth.

Contentful’s Solution Engineers serve as trusted advisors for prospects, customers, and internal Sales and Product teams. They map customer needs to the value of the Contentful platform, and demonstrate its benefits to developers, product managers, marketing leaders, and C-level executives. They also advocate internally for keystone customer needs, and synthesize their in-market experiences to provide strategic insights to our Product and leadership teams.

At Contentful, our Solution Engineers are critical members of our sales team and own key components of the sales process including infrastructural/architectural discovery, collaborative solution design, and technical validation. In collaboration with our Solution Architects, Solution Engineers at Contentful also play a critical role after the conclusion of a sales contract by continuing to advise and assist the customers’ developers and implementation teams in conjunction with the efforts of our Services Success team.

Solution Engineers may travel up to 25% of the time and will have the opportunity to work with teams around the world, from visionary brands to innovative digital agencies.


  • Hire, on-board, train, mentor, and develop new Solution Engineers
  • Partner with regional and global sales and partnership teams on go-to-market strategy
  • Build and iterate on scalable Solution Engineering processes
  • Formulate and execute a customer-focused strategy to drive adoption of Contentful in partnership with the sales management team
  • Coach Solution Engineers in the skills needed to map technology capabilities to prospect and customer business needs; to communicate technical software delivery concepts to mixed technical and non-technical audiences
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the Solution Engineering community
  • Guide and motivate the development of demonstrations, digital experiences, whitepapers, datasheets, and other customer facing guidance and best practices
  • Provide technology leadership and strategic inputs into building new capabilities, technical readiness, and offers based on emerging technologies and market trends


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of SaaS Sales/Solution Engineering Management experience, preferably with employees in distributed locations
  • 3+ years of influential success as a Sales/Solution Engineer individual contributor
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Recent industry experience with current web technologies and cloud concepts (microservices, Javascript, APIs, CDNs, etc.)
  • Experience and excitement about disruptive technology solutions
  • Experience shaping the practice of Solution Engineering at a previous company
  • Experience initiating cross-departmental company initiatives, gathering other experts around them to accomplish shared goals.
