Software Engineer - Trade Compliance

Remote - Global Engineering

GitHub is changing the way the world builds software, and we want you to help build GitHub. We’re looking for an experienced application engineer to work on features and tooling in support of our legal team. You'll work closely with GitHub's legal and policy team to ensure our service is used in compliance with trade and export control laws, all while staying customer-obsessed.

Responsibilities:

  • Reading, writing, and reviewing application code
  • Collaborating with product teams to define and implement new features
  • Documenting the systems you help build
  • Working with the GitHub Legal team to implement policy changes

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience developing web applications (preferably with Ruby on Rails)
  • Experience with Git and GitHub
  • SQL and general database knowledge
  • Solid knowledge of testing principles
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with trade or security compliance is a plus
