Sr. Program Manager, Strategic Planning and Operations

Remote - US West Coast Executive

The Office of the COO is looking for an experienced Program Manager who will report into our newly-forming Program Management Office and will lead OKR, planning and other organizational effectiveness programs across GitHub. In addition to exceptional Program Management prowess, successful candidates for this role must exhibit extraordinary attention to detail, Process Development experience, BRD (business requirements document) building, ROI (Return on Investment) development, Change Management experience, able to quickly build relationships with cross-company partners and be responsive in a rapidly growing environment.

This role will work closely with multiple teams across the organization as we continue to grow and scale. You will serve as a key subject area expert and will be responsible for helping to build a practice for developing and improving GitHub’s OKR and planning process, as well as identifying and leading cross-company organizational health efforts to drive continual improvement in how the business operates. 

In this role, you will have a significant impact on the overall organizational health and operational maturity at GitHub. 

The role will require an experienced Program Manager with a significant level of experience in successfully defining, launching and executing key cross-company programs.

Responsibilities

  • Catalog existing OKR processes from each GitHub organization and distill a recommended set of best practices.
  • Define planning cadences and clearly communicate schedule and expectations across OKR leads and company leadership.
  • Develop training materials and implement best practices company-wide.
  • Ensure planning processes are tightly aligned with key company objectives.
  • Prepare Business Requirements Documents for new tools or tooling gaps.
  • Evaluate, prioritize and create ROI for new and/or upgraded tools needed.  
  • Lead tooling pilots and/or experiments.
  • Create requisite change management and control processes for both tooling changes and Operational Process Changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organizational health, build business cases around key initiatives and successfully execute approved programs.

Experience

  • 7-10 Years experience in Program Management 
  • Demonstrated successful execution of high visibility, cross-company initiatives.
  • Proficient in tools evaluation and BRD creation.
  • Advanced knowledge of ROI development.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
